“This morning, Cabinet has approved the Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment Bill and the Labour Relations Amendment Bill that deal with the controversial issue of labour broking without heeding Cosatu’s call to ban the practice. The Labour Minister told a post-Cabinet briefing that the legislation sought to prevent the abuses that had been associated with labour broking and did so in part by limiting temporary employment to a period of six months. The two bills, long debated at NEDLAC over the past year, will now be submitted to Parliament, whereafter the Legislature will hold public hearings.

These amendments, and its possible impact on business, will be discussed at our Mid-Year Labour Law Updates which we will be hosting in May.” “Ensure that you know what to expect from these changes so that you can align your business practices accordingly”.
