On 28 December 2012 the AgriBEE Sector Code was gazetted by the Dti making it immediately binding on all entities operating in, or supporting the agricultural sector. The code is very similar to the Generic Codes of Good Practice with marginal differences that should not cause too many concerns to a well prepared business. However, if the business has not implemented BBBEE as yet, this Sector Code will prove problematic, and may lead to lease or licence reviews and loss of business.
