The Department of Labour on 28 February 2014 published draft Employment Equity Regulations for public comment.  The purpose of the regulations are to provide practical guidelines on how to implement Employment Equity legislation in the workplace and key issues highlighted by the new Regulations  include a revised definition of designated groups, criteria and methodology for assessing work of equal value, guidelines for assessment of compliance using the national and regionally economically active population (EAP) and enforcement mechanisms.
