Companies with B-BBEE certificates issued under the old codes in April 2015 should be in the process of preparing for their first verifications using the amended codes of good practice.

At the same time, companies will be preparing Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) and Annual Training Reports (ATR).

Under the old codes there was some uncertainty whether all companies needed to submit a WSP and ATR to claim Skills Development for B-BBEE purposes. This uncertainty has now been removed so it is an opportune moment to discuss the requirements for skills development.  If B-BBEE is important to you, we would suggest that you pass this article on to your Skills Development Facilitator as well.

This means that failure to score at least 40% of the points available excluding bonus points, or 8 points, will result in the automatic discount of a B-BBEE level.
