Over the holiday period the writer was advised by the chairperson, Advocate Pansy Tlakula that the Regulator intends to approach the President and request him to bring the remaining sections of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) into effect during the 2020/21 financial year. For those who are interested, there is currently an invitation for written comments from the Information Regulator to the amended guidelines which is due by 17 January 2020. A copy of these guidelines can be found here.
The guidelines generally deal with administrative issues but also deal with significant portions for a code of conduct and complaints handling procedures.
