As I wrote about last week, COSATU is putting pressure on the President to sign the national minimum wage into law, along with the other Labour Relations Act amendments.

I believe that such pressure is bearing fruit and it is my opinion that these laws will be signed as early as Friday.

There is no doubt that the Department of Labour has not fully tested the system in terms of exemptions. However, I have a feeling this legislation will be signed into law in the next week with a period to phase-in implementation of at least 30 days.
