Recently Minister of Labour, Mildred Oliphant, published the Code of Good Practice on Equal Pay/Remuneration for Work of Equal Value. This Code seeks to provide guidance on how to implement the requirements of legislative obligation as per the amended Employment Equity Act although it could be argued that it merely serves to reinforce the confusion surrounding the concept of “equal pay for work of equal value”.
