NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE
The Department of Health has extended the period for public comment on the broad policy proposals for the implementation of the new National Health Insurance to the 30th of December 2011. Once the period for public comments end, the legislation will be finalised and submitted to Parliament for consideration whereafter the Bill has to be approved. It is anticipated that the NHI will commence in ten selected districts as part of a pilot project in April 2012.
