Minister Rob Davies in his opening address indicated that the new Codes will be published on the 11th of October with provision for a one year transition period. He indicated that the Codes had previously made it easy to score points without having any substance and that the new Codes will change that. A new change to the current verification process will be that 100% small black-owned companies will automatically achieve a Level 1 BEE status without having to be verified.
Research results on BEE progress will be presented during the course of the summit over the next two days.
