Join Thembi Chagonda on the 3-hour, 3-part programme on the Employment Equity Act (EEA): This will be practical sessions targeted at Human Resources practitioners, Employment Equity Managers, and EE Committee members: The objective of the sessions is to provide an overview of the EEA and amendment Bill and an update on sectoral targets relating to designated employers. This opportunity is to capacitate new EE members who have missed EE training and a refresher, and other members to understand their roles and responsibilities. preparation, planning, and reporting.

Part 1: Introduction to EEA (3 – hours) 30 August 2024 (09:00 - 12:00)

  • Overview of the Employment Equity Act, SDA, and BBBEE as transformation enablers
  • Importance of EEA in the workplace
  • Unpack fair and unfair discrimination – case law examples
  • Roles and responsibilities of HR practitioners, EE Managers, and EE Committee members
  • EE terms of reference for the committee, agenda, and frequency of meetings
  • Practical examples of how to consult, feedback to constituencies.

Part 2: Preparing and Planning your Company’s EE Plan (3 - hours) 11 September 2024 (09:00 - 12:00)

  • Is your EE Plan expiring or has expired?
  • Are you a designated employer in terms of employee numbers or turnover threshold?
  • What is a reasonable duration of an EE Plan?
  • Should you consider the national/provincial Economically Active Population (EAP) or consider the draft Sectoral targets?
  • Understanding the legal requirements for Setting up an EE Committee
  • Do you have employment equity-related policies and procedures in place?
  • Practical steps of how to accurately identify EE policy, procedures, and practices barriers/

Part 3: Employment Equity Target Setting, and EEA2 and EEA4 Reporting (3 - hours) 2 October 2024 (09:00 - 12:00)

  • Each company to review its opportunities to set meaningful targets by considering occupational levels, retirements, vacancies, previous resignation trends, promotions, and growth.
  • Setting measurable goals and targets
  • Identifying EE objectives for the identified Affirmative Action measures
  • Legal requirements for reporting
  • Preparing the EE report
  • Submission process and deadlines and consultation

All workshops are offered as customised in-house training that can be presented virtually or on-site.
