About The Event

A comprehensive briefing on the most far-reaching amendments to labour legislation in a generation — and what they mean for your organisation.
Following a multi-year tripartite process at NEDLAC, South Africa is considering landmark reforms to core labour legislation. This pop-up webinar is designed as a fast, high-impact update for organisations that need clarity quickly, without waiting for changes to be finalised. You will leave with a clear understanding of the direction of travel, the parts that are most likely to affect employers, and the practical steps to take now to improve risk management and compliance readiness.

The webinar unpacks proposed reforms affecting bargaining council and collective agreement frameworks, dismissal remedies and thresholds, large-scale retrenchment processes and severance pay, the definition and scope of unfair labour practices, and changes impacting temporary employment services, fixed-term and part-time work. It also covers major BCEA proposals relevant to “on call” workers, deductions from remuneration, and leave/pay calculation implications, alongside related high-risk shifts such as extended definitions of employee status and the compliance and cost consequences for non-standard workers. The session also addresses areas of litigation and financial sustainability risk, including proposed EEA amendments relating to unfair discrimination on arbitrary grounds and NMW-related implications following recent case law.

Your facilitators are Jonathan Goldberg and John Botha, bringing direct NEDLAC labour law reform insight and practical employer-focused interpretation to help you plan confidently. The session is offered as a live online webinar on Zoom, and can also be delivered as customised in-house training.
